Top Chinese leader Xi Jinping to pay State visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jiping and his wife will pay a State visit to Vietnam on December 12-13, according to the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations.
The visit has been made at the invitations of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife, and State president Vo Van Thuong and his wife, the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations said in a press communique on December 7.
This is the third time Xi has visited Vietnam after the 2015 and 2017 trips.
Over the past 15 years, the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership between the two countries have developed practically and effectively, yielding outstanding achievements in key fields such as politics, economy, defense - security, culture and social affairs.
China is the first country with which Vietnam has built a comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership with. Vietnam is also the first Southeast Asian country with which China has established this framework of relations.
The two countries have maintained regular contacts and meetings, including a China visit by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong late last year.
Last year, two-way trade turnover between the two countries reached US$175.56 billion, up 5.47%, of which Vietnamese exports stood at US457.7 billion, up 3.18%, and imports grossed US$117.86 billion, up 6.63%.
China poured nearly US$2.1 billion into 478 Vietnamese projects in the first nine months of this year, becoming the second largest FDI investor in the country.
