Vietnam prioritises strengthening relations with China, says Party chief

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to and gives top priority to developing the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership it has established with China.

Receiving Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Hanoi on December 1, Trong welcomed the diplomat’s Vietnam visit which be believed would actively contribute to promoting cooperation between the two countries in more substantial and effective manner.

He congratulated the great, important achievements China has recorded in recent times, and expected that Chinese people, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party led by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping would successfully implement the goals set by the 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.

Vietnam supports a socialist state of China’s strong development with an increasingly important role in peace, cooperation and development in the region and the wider world, said Trong.

He spoke highly of the positive development in the relationship between the two states, as well as the outstanding achievements the two countries have recorded since they established the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership 15 years ago.

Welcoming the results of the 15th Meeting of the Vietnam - China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee that took place in Hanoi on December 1, the Party leader requested that the two sides enhance comprehensive cooperation in all fields, with a primary focus on increasing high-level exchanges and contacts to create strategic direction for bilateral relations.

On this occasion, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong conveyed his warm regards to Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders.

Wang for his part agreed with Trong’s directions on the need to continue to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two Parties and two states.

He congratulated Vietnam’s Reform achievements reaped over the past decades, and expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam would successfully implement its development goals until 2030 and 2045 outlined by the 13th National Party Congress.

The diplomat informed his host on the results of the 15th Meeting of the Vietnam - China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, and emphasized that under the direction of the two Party General Secretaries, the two sides would enhance political trust and foster cooperation in all fields in order to continuously enrich the connotation of their comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership in the coming time.
