State President hosts Vietnam – RoK friendship, cooperation organisations
VOV.VN - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc upon arriving in Seoul on December 4 for an official visit received representatives of several friendship and economic cooperation organisations that have made positive contributions to promoting bilateral relations.
Receiving Ly descendants, Phuc noted that the Vietnamese State and people are proud that descendants of the Ly dynasty have successfully settled down in the Republic of Korea, making an important contribution to their host country, turning their hearts to the homeland, and strengthening relations between the two countries.
He briefed the descendants on Vietnam’s recent socio-economic development achievements, and asked them to frequently visit the country, introduce the Vietnamese market and investment environment, encourage Korean businesses to invest in Vietnam, and popularize Vietnamese culture among Koreans to help cement the two nations.
Ly Huan, chairman of the Ly family, expressed elation at the positive development of the Vietnam – RoK relations, and proposed that the Ly descendants continue to receive Vietnamese support for their economic cooperation and cultural exchange projects undertaken in Vietnam.
Receiving the RoK-Vietnam Friendship Association (KOVIFA), Phuc said Vietnam and the RoK are each other’s leading partners and they have built an exemplary role model of cooperation in international relations. He expressed his belief the association would continue promoting its role in fostering multifaceted cooperation, especially in economics, trade, labour and tourism between the two countries.
KOVIFA representatives proposed they receive additional Vietnamese assistance to facilitate friendship exchanges in order to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples.
At the meeting with the Korea and Vietnam Economic and Cultural Association (KOVECA), President Phuc praised KOVECA for carrying out numerous activities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in July 2022 to celebrate 30 years of diplomacy between Vietnam and the RoK.
He suggested KOVECA further promote the two countries' cooperation plans and projects, especially in the fields of high technology, renewable energy, new environmentally friendly industries, technology transfer, and health care in the face of epidemics.
KOVECA representatives said they believe that the President’s visit will be a great success, opening up major cooperation opportunities for the two sides across all fields.
The same day, President Phuc also received the Korea Eminent Person Group (EPG), which comprise former ambassadors and leading experts of the two countries in diplomacy, economy, culture and society.
He acknowledging the EPG’s quality research and exchange activities, as well as initiatives to help strengthen the two countries' cooperative relations. He said he believes that a report, which is currently being jointly developed by the group to be submitted to the two governments, will be of good quality and have practical value.
EPG representatives hoped the report that puts forward recommendations and policies to deepen the Vietnam – RoK relations in the new period will make a positive contribution to the two governments' policy planning to help elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
