State President leaves Hanoi for Seoul on RoK visit
VOV.VN - State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi on December 4 for a state visit to the Republic of Korea at the invitation of his RoK counterpart Yoon Suk-yeol.
Phuc is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and leaders of a number of ministries in charge of foreign affairs, planning and investment, trade and industry, culture, sports and tourism, and health, as well as leaders of several provinces that have established cooperative ties with RoK localities.
This is Phuc’s first visit to the RoK in his capacity as State President of Vietnam. This is also the first official visit to the RoK by a Vietnamese State President after 11 years, and the highest-level visit by a top Vietnamese leader since a new president was elected in the RoK.
He is the first foreign leader to pay a state visit to the RoK since Yoon took ofice, demonstrating the RoK’s desire to strengthen relations with Vietnam.
The visit takes place at a time when Vietnam and the RoK are celebrating 30 years of bilateral diplomacy, and the two countries have yielded positive results in their cooperation. it is expected to open a new chapter in the relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
