Russia considers Vietnam its strategic friend, says State Duma leader
VOV.VN - Russia considers Vietnam not only a strategic partner but also a strategic friend, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Viktorovich Volodin told his host, President Vo Van Thuong, at a meeting in Hanoi on October 16.
He recalled major milestones in Russia - Vietnam relations over the years and said the two sides should work closely together to find new forms for stronger cooperation in many different fields.
He noted with satisfaction the positive development of bilateral relations and expressed his belief bilateral cooperative relations would continue to develop more effectively in the coming time.
The Russian leader also conveyed President Vladimir Putin’s greetings to President Vo Van Thuong.
Thuong welcomed Volodin’s visit as well as the results of the October 15 talks between the two countries’ legislative leaders, noting amid global difficulties and challenges Vietnam – Russia cooperative relations continued to yield practical gains.
He suggested that the two sides increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, actively promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, and restore and develop post-pandemic people-to-people exchanges and tourism services.
He also proposed that the Russian legislature create more favourable conditions for Vietnamese expatriates to live, study and work in their host country.
