RoK reaffirms Vietnam as a top priority partner in foreign policy
VOV.VN - The Republic of Korea (RoK) considers Vietnam a top priority partner in its foreign policy, said Park Chang-dal, Special Envoy of RoK President Lee Jae-myung, during his meeting with Party General Secretary To Lam in Hanoi on July 29.

Park quoted President Lee, saying the RoK wishes to further promote bilateral cooperation in all areas, especially economy, investment, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
He praised the strong progress in Vietnam–RoK relations, particularly since the upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He proposed deepening high-level exchanges and expanding cooperation in key sectors such as nuclear energy, high technology, and joint responses to global economic and trade shifts.
He also proposed that Vietnam continue to create favourable conditions for Korean enterprises to expand their investment in the country.
General Secretary To Lam, for his part, expressed high appreciation for President Lee’s regard for Vietnam, affirming Vietnam consistently values and seeks to deepen its cooperation with the RoK based on political trust, effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
He extended his congratulations to Lee on his election as the 21st head of state of the Republic of Korea, expressing confidence that under his leadership, the RoK would continue to prosper and raise its international profile.
The Vietnamese leader welcomed the proposed cooperation areas and agreed with the strategic direction laid out by the Korean side. He also emphasised the need to expand cooperation beyond traditional areas into forward-looking sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), data centre development, innovation, and high-quality human resource training, which would serve as new driving forces for bilateral relations.
On regional and international issues, General Secretary To Lam suggested that both countries continue working closely and supporting each other at multilateral forums that align with their national interests and contribute to peace, stability, and development in the region and the rest of the world.
Park affirmed that the RoK would work closely with Vietnam to ensure the success of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju, and the 2027 APEC edition in Vietnam.
