Prime Minister meets Vietnamese expatriates in Romania

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 20 called at the Vietnamese Embassy in Bucharest where he met embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Romania.

According to Ambassador Do Duc Thanh, there are about 600 Vietnamese expatriates living and working in Romania, and they always uphold the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance to stabilize their lives in the host country and turn their heart to the homeland.

The Embassy and the Vietnamese Association in Romania make efforts to preserve the Vietnamese culture and develop the Vietnamese language among young generations. Many Vietnamese students study well, with some having won national and international prizes in social sciences.

Meanwhile, Pham Duy Hung, president of the Vietnamese Association in Romania, reported that the Association, established in 1993, has promoted its leading role in connecting the community, coordinating with the Embassy to organize many activities towards the homeland, and support Vietnamese people overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives and integrate into the host society.

Notably, the Embassy, the Vietnamese Association and the Vietnamese community in Romania joined hands to support Vietnamese people fleeing from the conflict in Ukraine in 2022 and bring home thousands of them safely.

At the meeting, representatives said they are happy to learn about Vietnam’s marked development achievements and its rising position globally. They showed their gratitude to the Party and State for their special care as well as policies introduced to support Vietnamese expatriates overseas, including those in Romania.

Speaking at the function, PM Pham Minh Chinh praised the community for upholding the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance, as well as for organizing many activities to promote the Vietnamese image in Romania and toward the homeland.

He affirmed that the Party and State always strive to take care of the Vietnamese community abroad, support them to have a solid legal status, stabilize their lives, and integrate into the host society, and encourage them to actively contribute to the fatherland.

The PM briefed them on Vietnam’s new policies, including the recent approval of the Land Law at the extraordinary session of the National Assembly that includes breakthrough provisions on housing and real estate for Vietnamese expatriates.

He expected that the Vietnamese community in Romania will continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance, making more practical contributions to Romania and the homeland. He said he would direct relevant ministries and agencies to examine the community’s proposals to support them in the coming time.
