President Luong Cuong attends Vietnam–Laos Friendship Exchange in Vientiane
VOV.VN - A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by President Luong Cuong took part in a Vietnam – Laos friendship exchange in Vientiane on April 25 morning, as part of the President’s official visit to Laos.

Cuong was joined by Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao Front for National Construction Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune, and other senior leaders of the Lao Party, State, and Government.
Hundreds of Vietnamese students and more than 1,000 Lao war veterans and former students who had studied in Vietnam also attended the programme.
During the exchange, representatives of the Lao youth expressed pride in the shared revolutionary history and the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. Quoting President Kaysone Phomvihane’s saying “Mountains may erode, rivers may dry, but the Vietnam–Laos friendship will remain stronger than mountains and rivers,” they pledged to carry forward this legacy for future generations.
In his speech, President Luong Cuong shared his admiration for the development achievements of Laos, especially in the nearly four decades since the start of the Renovation process.
He noted that the event took place during a time of celebration for both peoples, commemorating historic victories and shared triumphs. He paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam, and President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong of Laos, as well as their successors for their contributions to cultivating bilateral relations.
He acknowledged the deep and effective support of Laos in Vietnam’s past and present achievements and affirmed the Vietnamese Party, State, and people’s deep gratitude for this invaluable support.

The President emphasised the importance of educating younger generations about the special Vietnam–Laos relationship which he said should be preserved and nurtured.
Amid global changes, the President stressed that the Vietnam–Laos relationship is an invaluable asset and a strategic foundation for promoting deep, effective, and mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in economics, trade, investment, science and technology, education, and people-to-people exchange.
Vietnam is committed to supporting Laos’ development in the spirit of “helping friends is helping ourselves”, and is ready to share experiences in macroeconomic stability, institutional reform, innovation, and digital transformation, he affirmed.
Highlighting the vital role of youth in national development, Cuong expressed his joy in meeting young people from both countries, calling them the “torchbearers” of the special Vietnam–Laos relationship. He confirmed that Vietnam would continue investing in education, training, and student exchange programmes, noting the contributions of Lao alumni of Vietnamese universities to their home country’s development.

Cuong concluded his speech by affirming that Vietnam will remain a loyal, trustworthy companion that offers strong and comprehensive support to Laos in its renovation, protection, and development efforts.
He expressed confidence that, with shared determination and heartfelt commitment from both peoples, the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos would continue to flourish and endure for generations to come.
President Luong Cuong is pay a state visit to Laos on April 24-25 at the invitation of Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Laos People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos.
