President Erdogan hails Turkey-Vietnam cooperation potential
VOV.VN - President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lauded great cooperation potential between Turkey and Vietnam during his reception on May 1 for newly accredited Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Thi Thu Ha.

Erdogan expressed his satisfaction with the recent positive developments in Turkey – Vietnam relations and hoped bilateral trade would continue to grow in the near future. He emphasised that defence cooperation, particularly in the defence industry, is a key area of partnership and that the two sides would soon sign an agreement in this field.
The Turkish President also proposed that Vietnam support Turkey’s aspiration to become an ASEAN dialogue partner, affirming that Turkish institutions would continue to support and promote bilateral relations.
Ha, who presented the credentials to the president, congratulated Turkey on its significant socio-economic achievements under President Erdogan’s leadership, positioning Turkey as a regional and global economic power. She affirmed that traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have been growing steadily, especially following Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit in November 2023.
Two-way trade turnover between the two countries reached more than US$3 billion in 2024, making Vietnam one of Turkey’s leading trade partners in Southeast Asia. Currently, more than 40 Turkish companies are investing in Vietnam. Notably, a Turkish corporation is participating in the construction of Long Thanh International Airport, and Turkish Airlines operates two direct flights daily between Vietnam and Turkey.
The Ambassador also highlighted Vietnam’s dispatch of a rescue team to support earthquake victims in Turkey in 2023 as a vivid testament to the solidarity between the two countries. She pledged to work closely with relevant Turkish agencies and do her utmost to contribute to the comprehensive and substantive development of bilateral relations in the future.
At the end of the meeting, Erdoaan presented the diplomat several books, including two authoured by himself, titled “A Fairer World Is Possible” and “The World Is Bigger Than Five”.
