PM Pham Minh Chinh meets world leaders at 16th BRICS Summit in Russia

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and leaders of many other countries attending the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, on October 24.

Meeting with Lukashenko, Chinh reaffirmed that Vietnam highly values the traditional friendship and cooperation with Belarus, which has been nurtured by the leaders and people of both countries over the past decades.

Vietnam considers Belarus a close friend and reliable partner, and desires to strengthen bilateral cooperation through high-level exchanges across different channels, said Chinh.

He highlighted the complementarity of the two economies and proposed enhancing efforts to tap into the economic and trade potential between the two countries.

Lukashenko for his part extended his congratulations to newly elected Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and expressed his hope to soon welcome senior Vietnamese leaders on official visits to Belarus.

He agreed with Chinh’s proposals and emphasized that, based on the trustworthy relationship, Belarus highly values and seeks to further enhance cooperation with Vietnam across various sectors. He proposed boosting joint automobile production for export and expanding cooperation into investment, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

The two sides affirmed their commitment to closely coordinate at multilateral forums,*particularly within the United Nations and other regional organizations in which both countries are members.

At a meeting with the Uzbek President, Chinh emphasized Vietnam’s desire to enhance cooperation with Uzbekistan across various fields, including diplomacy, economy, and cultural exchanges. 

Vietnam places great importance on its relations with traditional friendly countries, including Uzbekistan, and hopes that both sides will continue to build on their political foundation and promote visit exchanges to create momentum for enhanced cooperation.

Mirziyoyev for his part extended his congratulations to newly elected Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, while expressing his admiration for Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements in recent years.

Vietnam is a reliable partner of Uzbekistan in the Asia region, he said, hoping that Vietnam would serve as a bridge for Uzbekistan to expand its cooperation with ASEAN.

The two leaders agreed that there is significant room for cooperation between Vietnam and Uzbekistan. They reached a consensus on enhancing the legal framework for cooperation, and noted that economic and trade collaboration has shown positive signs of growth in recent times. 

They also agreed to explore measures to expand cooperation into other potential areas, such as oil and gas, education and training, cultural exchanges, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, while examining direct flight routes to connect destinations in both countries. 

The two sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and other international organizations.

The same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had brief meetings with leaders of South Africa, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Iran, Congo, Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, as well as the United Nations Secretary-General.
