PM Chinh arrives in Russia for BRICS Summit

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his high-ranking delegation arrived in Kazan in Russia on the morning of October 23 (local time), marking the start of a two-day trip to attend the expanded BRICS Summit, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, chair of BRICS 2024.

Those welcoming PM Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at the airport included the Prime Minister of Tatarstan, the First Deputy Mayor of Kazan, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi, among others.

This marks the first time that a head of the Vietnamese Government has attended the BRICS Summit, with it also being the first working trip to Russia made by PM Chinh which comes as the two countries are gearing up for the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year. It serves as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two, particularly as it opens up practical and effective opportunities that match the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, the Government chief’s attendance at the event  is viewed as an important step in carrying out the nation’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, and diversification of foreign relations. This includes being a friend, a reliable partner, and both an active and responsible member of the international community, as well as having a policy of promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy.

It strongly reaffirms the nation’s proactive, active, and responsible spirit in addressing global issues. It also serves to underscore the country’s commitments to promoting multilateralism, global solidarity, and the rule of law while raising the voice of developing nations for the cause of global peace, co-operation, and development.

Vietnam's engagement in discussions on pressing global issues with major and emerging economies serve to further affirms its position, role, and stature. This presents a picture of a nation that is peaceful, co-operative, dynamic, and innovative. Through the event, the country will continue to deepen its co-operation with Russia and other nations.

With the mindset of new-era diplomacy to increase contributions and make every effort for the cause of collaboration, development, and common prosperity, PM Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will actively participate and make responsible contributions at the BRICS Summit.
