PM Chinh pushes for deeper cooperation with China
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi on April 5, calling for stronger bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
At the meeting, PM Chinh conveyed greetings and best wishes from Vietnam’s top leaders, including Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Permanent Secretariat member Tran Cam Tu, to Chinese leaders such as Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
He also congratulated China on the successful organisation of its 2026 “Two Sessions” and the completion of its 14th Five-Year Plan.
Both sides reviewed recent progress in Vietnam–China relations, highlighting strengthened political trust, frequent high-level exchanges and robust growth in economic, trade, investment and tourism cooperation. Local-level partnerships and people-to-people exchanges have also intensified, particularly during the Vietnam–China Year of Humanistic Exchanges 2025.
Reaffirming Vietnam’s consistent policy of prioritising relations with China, the PM called for enhanced solidarity, deeper mutual trust and expanded comprehensive cooperation to support mutual development.
Ambassador He conveyed greetings from Chinese leaders to Vietnam’s leadership, while congratulating Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements over the past five years.
He expressed appreciation for the PM’s contributions to advancing bilateral ties and reaffirmed that China places high priority on relations with Vietnam within its neighbourhood diplomacy.
Looking ahead, the Vietnamese PM urged both sides to promote more balanced, sustainable trade and to further open the Chinese market to Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
He also called for breakthroughs in strategic infrastructure connectivity, with priority given to railway cooperation linking the two countries with Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Europe.
Additional areas of focus include expanding cooperation in energy, finance and banking, as well as strengthening collaboration in culture and tourism.
The Chinese ambassador voiced support for these proposals and assured his host that China is ready to maintain regular high-level strategic exchanges and deepen practical cooperation across sectors.
He said both sides would work toward elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the Vietnam–China community with a shared future of strategic significance to a new level.
