Party leader To Lam supports Vietnam – Singapore increased business cooperation

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to creating the best possible conditions for foreign investors, including those from Singapore, to do long-term business in the country, during his separate meetings with the leaders of several major corporations of Singapore on March 11.

Meeting with Tran Thi Lam, advisor to Shangri-La Healthcare Investment, To Lam, who arrived in Singapore on March 11 for an official visit, welcomed the company’s investment in the healthcare sector and urged the acceleration of its ongoing projects. He encouraged the company to pour more investments, particularly into high-tech and environmentally friendly fields.

Vietnam will continue to create favourable conditions for investors to do business in the country, and relevant authorities and local governments will work alongside businesses to facilitate project implementation, he said.

The company’s leadership reported on its US$400 million medical complex project in Ho Chi Minh City, and expressed hopes for support in completing it by 2029.

Meeting with Lim Boon Heng, Chairman of Temasek Holdings, the Party chief emphasized Vietnam’s strong focus on developing the private sector. He noted that Vietnam has set ambitious economic development goals, that requires new technologies, skilled human resources, and foreign capital, and investment funds play an important role in this process.

Given the current global economic landscape, Vietnam has been negotiating free trade agreements and engaging with partners to resolve trade-related issues, in an attempt to ensure a favourable investment environment for all investors, including those from Singapore, he said.

Heng expressed the firm’s interest in Vietnam’s green transition and renewable energy development, and its desire to take part in this ecosystem.

While hosting Tow Heng Tan, Chairman of Sembcorp, To Lam praised the company’s collaboration in 18 Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) currently in operation. He assured that Vietnam would continue refining policies to facilitate investment in high-tech industrial parks.

He revealed that during his ongoing visit to Singapore leaders from both countries would evaluate economic cooperation and improve the investment climate. Regarding clean energy, the party leader said, Vietnam has a significant demand, particularly given its ambitious growth target.

The country is currently studying and planning nuclear power, wind power, and solar energy development, and it welcomes corporate participation in this sector, he told the executive.

During a meeting with Luis Lim, CEO of Keppel’s Real Estate Division, General Secretary To Lam acknowledged that the company’s primary areas, namely housing development, energy, and data centers, align with Vietnam’s priorities. He encouraged Keppel to monitor and plan future investments in the country.

The leader talked about Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to enhance decentralization, making it easier for investors to undertake projects, and encourage Keppel’s investments in establishing financial centers in Vietnam.

Keppel’s leadership committed to actively investing in Vietnam, contributing to the country’s development while upholding corporate social responsibility.

Receiving Lee Chong Min, Chairman of CMIA Capital Partners, General Secretary To Lam expressed support for the company’s investment project in Vietnam, and stated that relevant agencies and local authorities would coordinate efforts to resolve issues and ensure timely project completion.

Receiving Lim Ming Yan, Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, General Secretary To Lam praised the federation’s role in connecting businesses from both countries and contributing to economic cooperation while helping to resolve challenges for enterprises.

Emphasizing Vietnam’s commitment to administrative reforms, the Party leader stated that the country aims to create a more favourable business environment, reduce costs for enterprises, and attract more high-tech investments.

He urged the Singapore Business Federation to develop concrete plans to enhance Vietnam-Singapore business cooperation, contributing to Vietnam’s centennial development goals and fostering overall growth between the two countries.
