Party General Secretary To Lam begins official visit to Singapore
VOV.VN - A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Party General Secretary To lam arrived at Changi Airport, marking the beginning of their official visit to Singapore from March 11 to 13 at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the People’s Action Party (PAP) Lawrence Wong.

To Lam, his spouse and entourage were welcomed by Singapore’s Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng; Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam; and Director-General of the Protocol Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chia Wei Wen.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh, along with a large number of officials and staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, were also present at the airport.
This is To Lam’s first visit to Singapore in his capacity as General Secretary that signifies a new milestone in the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Singapore. The visit underscores Vietnam’s commitment to elevating ties with Singapore to new heights, in line with the country’s foreign policy guidelines and orientation.
The visit is expected to further deepen the relationship between the two ruling Parties, lay a solid political foundation for the two countries' relations and enhance cooperation in various fields such as the green economy, digital economy, science and technology, innovation, clean energy, and the development of financial centers.
Vietnam and Singapore established diplomatic ties in 1973 and upgraded their ties to a Strategic Partnership in September 2013. Since the elevation, bilateral relations have become increasingly effective across all fields. In addition to strong political ties, their economic and trade cooperation is a standout success story in Southeast Asia. Since 1996, Singapore has consistently been one of Vietnam’s largest partners, with two-way trade increasing year by year.
Currently, Singapore remains the leading investor from ASEAN and ranks second among 148 countries and territories investing in Vietnam, after the Republic of Korea, with 3,838 valid projects. Its investments span multiple localities in Vietnam, focusing on industries such as manufacturing and processing, real estate, electricity production and distribution, and gas, water, and air conditioning.
The Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) are a symbol of economic cooperation between the two countries. These industrial parks serve as economic cooperation beacons, not only fostering industrialization and modernization in Vietnam but also contributing to regional supply chains and economic connectivity.
