Vietnam and Singapore pursue win-win cooperation amidst power competition
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Singapore have pledged to pursue win-win cooperation to address challenges posed by the increasing competition among major powers in the region, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh.

According to the Ambassador, the intensifying competition among major powers presents significant challenges for both Vietnam and Singapore. In this context, the strong relationship between the senior leaders of the two countries serves as an essential foundation, to help reinforce political trust and make bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms more substantive and effective.
“The cooperation mechanisms we currently have need to be further strengthened through regular dialogue and exchanges to discuss ways of collaboration in a spirit of openness and mutual benefit,” said the Ambassador.
“If there are institutional difficulties or obstacles, they should be addressed through directives from senior leaders to relevant ministries and agencies. These ministries and agencies must then demonstrate determination and adopt a comprehensive perspective on medium- and long-term benefits rather than focusing solely on immediate interests, so as to ensure mutual gains for both parties,” stated And.
The diplomat emphasized that this foundation is crucial in continuing the strong cooperative relationship across all fields, helping both countries overcome difficulties and challenges amid the current unpredictable global and regional landscape.
From a multilateral perspective, he noted that both Vietnam and Singapore are highly active, proactive, and responsible members of ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region. Close cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore, and other countries in the region will facilitate the coordination of positions and the formulation of appropriate policies to address contemporary challenges, including the competition among major powers in the region.
