Party General Secretary To Lam to visit Finland next week
VOV.VN - A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Party General Secretary To Lam will pay an official visit to the Republic of Finland from October 20 to 22, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The invitation has been extended by at the invitation of President Alexander Stubb, the Ministry said in a press communique on October 16.
Vietnam and Finland established diplomatic relations on January 25, 1973, and the year 2023 was a meaningful milestone for both countries as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
Over the past half-century, thanks to the dedicated efforts of generations of leaders and people from both sides, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Finland have flourished.
In the fields of politics and diplomacy, the two sides regularly exchange delegations at various levels, maintain close coordination, and support each other at multilateral forums, especially within the United Nations and the ASEAN–European Union (EU) framework.
Economic, trade, and investment cooperation remains a top priority in bilateral relations, yielding many notable achievements. In recent years, bilateral trade turnover has continuously increased, reaching US$ 375.7 million in 2023 and US$364.4 million in the first 10 months of 2024.
Vietnam’s major exports to Finland include iron and steel, footwear, textiles and garments, rubber, means of transport, wooden products, bicycles, computers, electronic components, and spare parts.
Meanwhile, Vietnam imports from Finland equipment, machinery, spare parts, textile materials, various kinds of steel, wood and wood products, chemical products, and paper.
Bilateral cooperation has also been strengthened in other areas such as defence, security, education and training, agriculture, environment, culture and education, people-to-people exchange, tourism, and local cooperation.
