To Lam welcomed Mishustin’s first visit to Vietnam, as well as the outcomes of his talks and meetings with Vietnamese leaders, which he said would help further strengthen bilateral cooperation in all domains.
He noted with satisfaction the achievements of bilateral cooperation in recent times, particularly following President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Vietnam in June 2024. He emphasized that Mishustin’s visit continues to realize the cooperation agreements reached and set out major directions for mutual relations in the future.
To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always remembers the invaluable and sincere support given by the former Soviet Union and now Russia during the difficult years of resistance wars, as well as in national defense and construction efforts at present.
He highlighted Vietnam’s particular emphasis on its traditional and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, considering Russia as a top priority partner in the country’s foreign policy. He also laid out several major directions to further deepen Vietnam-Russia relations in the future.
Mishustin for his part congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development achievements in recent times, and expressed his belief that Vietnam would continue to achieve significant success in its efforts to drive the country into a new era of development, prosperity, and strength.
Informing his host about the results of his talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Mishustin stated that Russia highly appreciates Vietnam’s efforts in overcoming difficulties and promoting bilateral cooperation, leading to significant achievements in all areas.
Russia always considers Vietnam one of its top priority partners in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in Southeast Asia, and is ready to expand cooperation and further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership in all fields, including economy-trade, energy, defense, security, science-technology, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges, he assured his host.
Despite the complex and changing global and regional situation, he said Russia greatly values the friendship and loyalty of the Vietnamese people toward Russia.
Both host and guest shared key aspects of their respective countries’ situations and agreed on major directions to further strengthen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
During the meeting, Mishustin respectfully conveyed Putin’s invitation to To Lam to attend the 80th-anniversary celebrations of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and pay a visit to Russia in 2025.
