Party chief To Lam encourages Vietnam – Indonesia business connectivity
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam met with leaders of several top Indonesian corporations and businesses in Jakarta on March 9 as part of his ongoing state visit to the island state.

During his meeting with Budiarsa Sastrawinata, CEO of Ciputra Group, To Lam highly appreciated the group’s business and investment activities, especially in real estate development and services. He highlighted Ciputra-invested Nam Thang Long Urban Area as one of the largest foreign-invested real estate projects and one of the most beautiful and impressive urban complexes in the West Lake area of Hanoi. He expected that the group would continue investment in green cities, smart cities, and tourism projects in Vietnam in the coming years.
According to the Party leader, Vietnam is making significant efforts to reform administrative procedures and improve institutions and legal frameworks to create a favorable investment environment for both domestic and foreign investors. He encouraged Indonesian businesses to invest in Vietnam, and hoped Indonesia would support Vietnamese enterprises in expanding their market presence in the country.
Affirming Vietnam’s support for Ciputra’s ongoing projects, the Party leader urged the group to closely coordinate with the Hanoi People’s Committee and relevant agencies for project implementation. He also encouraged the group to explore new investment opportunities in Vietnam, to leverage its strengths in investment cooperation, thereby contributing to its economic growth targets.
Sastrawinata for his part briefed To Lam on Ciputra’s investment plan in Vietnam and affirmed his commitment to continuing real estate development projects, including residential and office building projects in Hanoi, while also exploring new investment opportunities in the country.

Meeting with Patrick Walujo, CEO and Chairman of Gojek Group, and Garibaldi from Alamtri Resources, General Secretary To Lam welcomed the two corporations’ interest in exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam. He reaffirmed that Vietnam always provides the best possible conditions for foreign businesses, including Indonesian enterprises, to invest and conduct stable, long-term operations.
Vietnamese authorities are ready to listen and engage in dialogue with foreign businesses to resolve any difficulties or obstacles, he assured the CEOs, adding currently, Vietnam is actively attracting foreign investment in key sectors such as semiconductors, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, digital economy, digital transformation, innovation, and the development of international financial centers.
The General Secretary expressed his hope that Gojek would invest in its areas of expertise and explore partnerships with Vietnamese financial institutions to share experiences in developing digital finance, digital banking, and international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
Regarding Alamtri Resources, the General Secretary suggested strengthening cooperation in environmentally friendly mineral extraction, transferring modern and safe mining technologies, developing renewable energy, and promoting green and digital transformation in Vietnam.
He also suggested that the company expand seaport logistics systems and logistics centers, and collaboratw with Vietnamese businesses in developing the electric vehicle and battery market, as well as smart transportation infrastructure.
The corporate leaders stated that their corporations plan to return to the Vietnamese market soon and look forward to support in facilitating this process.

During his meeting with Oey Alfred, director of Sungai Budi, General Secretary To Lam lauded cooperation between the corporation and Vietnamese partners in the agricultural sector, particularly in the production of coconut and sugarcane products. He affirmed that Vietnam has many other strong sectors and that both sides still have significant potential for cooperation, particularly in fisheries and Halal food production.
As Vietnam and Indonesia are facing the need for rapid economic development amid global challenges, they should strengthen their cooperation to achieve their shared development goals, he suggested.
The leadership of Sungai Budi stated that the corporation has successfully collaborated with TTC AgriS Group in applying scientific advancements to high-tech agriculture and agricultural value chains in Indonesia, especially in sugarcane and coconut supply chains. Sungai Budi expressed a desire to enhance cooperation with Vietnamese businesses in seed development and the broader agricultural sector.
To Lam welcomed Sungai Budi’s investment plan, and noted that Vietnam is actively attracting foreign investment, including from Indonesian enterprises, to boost agricultural trade, especially in rice and sugar, and to foster technology transfer in agriculture, and this effort will further deepen the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia.

The same day, Party General Secretary met with Anindya Bakrie, chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
The representative of KADIN stated that the Chamber represents Indonesian enterprises, including state-owned, private, and joint ventures. It carries out key functions such as business-to-business and business-to-government connections and advisory services.
Bakrie proposed that, in the coming period, Vietnam support KADIN member enterprises in strengthening trade and investment cooperation, particularly in high-tech industries, the green economy, digital economy, marine economy, and semiconductor industry. He also emphasized the need to enhance business collaboration and formalize agreements between KADIN and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
Party General Secretary To Lam highlighted the strong development of Vietnam-Indonesia relations in recent years, serving as a solid foundation for businesses from both countries to expand cooperation. However, he noted that there is still significant untapped potential for collaboration. He expressed confidence in the prospects for long-term, sustainable cooperation between businesses from both countries, contributing to improved livelihoods for their people.
The leader encouraged both chambers of commerce to strengthen cooperation through delegation exchanges, information-sharing, and business support to explore investment opportunities and drive economic connectivity. He emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to continued innovation, administrative reform, and institutional improvements to facilitate business investment and partnerships in the country.
He reaffirmed Vietnam’s dedication to supporting and creating favourable conditions for Indonesian enterprises, ensuring mutual benefits and contributing to elevating Vietnam-Indonesia relations to new heights.
