Parliamentary cooperation a key pillar of Vietnam–Morocco relations: NA Chairman
VOV.VN - Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man emphasised the importance of parliamentary cooperation, considering it a key pillar of Vietnam – Morocco relations, during his meeting with Lubna Srhiri, Chairwoman of the Morocco–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, in Rabat on July 26.

Chairman Man spoke highly of the activities of the Morocco–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group and its Vietnamese counterpart, affirming that these friendship groups serve as important bridges in overseeing the implementation of agreements signed between the Vietnamese National Assembly and both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors of Morocco.
He welcomed the growing political trust and increasing parliamentary ties between the two countries, as demonstrated by recent high-level visits and exchanges. He expressed his belief that 2026 that marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations would see an increase in delegation exchanges, helping to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
Looking ahead, the NA Chairman proposed that both sides continue to promote delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially among high-ranking leaders, legislative bodies, and specialised committees, as well as the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups. He also called for more sharing of legislative and oversight experience between the two countries.

On this occasion, Chairman Man extended an invitation to Srhiri to lead a delegation of the Morocco–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit Vietnam and engage in exchanges with Vietnamese partners, thereby strengthening solidarity and exploring new cooperation opportunities.
He also requested that the Friendship Group continue supporting the Vietnamese Embassy in Morocco and advocate for favourable conditions for Moroccans of Vietnamese origin and the Vietnamese community living in their host country.
He talked Vietnam’s development of an international financial centre and expressed interest in learning from Casablanca’s experience as Africa’s leading financial hub. In her role as a parliamentarian representing Casablanca, he suggested that Srhiri help promote cooperation between Casablanca and Vietnamese localities, particularly Ho Chi Minh City, which shares many similarities with Casablanca as a top financial and commercial centre in its region.
For her part, Srhiri welcomed Chairman Man’s visit, which she said would not only enhance political, diplomatic, and economic relations but also send a strong message of friendship between the peoples of both countries. She stressed the commitment of Vietnamese leaders and the National Assembly to fostering comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, their legislative bodies, and their citizens.
Srhiri shared her guest’s view that parliamentary cooperation is a crucial channel in the broader framework of Vietnam–Morocco relations. In recent years, the Morocco–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group has regularly engaged with relevant Moroccan agencies and the Vietnam–Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group to outline working agendas, coordinate closely, and exchange experience in legislation, oversight, and practical cooperation in fields such as education, vocational training, and skills development.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man is in Morocco for an official visit from July 24 - 27 at the invitation of Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco.
