Casablanca policy dialogue seeks to enhance Vietnam – Morocco cooperation
VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on July 25 attended a policy dialogue in Casablanca, Morocco, to promote business connectivity as well as investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Morocco.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasised the practical significance of the gathering in enhancing business connectivity and exploring opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
He shared that Vietnam achieved a GDP growth rate of 7.09% last year and 7.52% in the first half of this year. It is currently the world’s 34th largest economy and is seeing strong growth in trade, services, and foreign direct investment, with about US$20 billion in foreign direct investment registered in the first half of the year, and US$15 billion disbursed.
He highlighted the strong political trust and parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries, adding “despite geographical distance, our hearts are close.” With 2026 marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Morocco, he proposed that the two sides finalise the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, review and sign agreements, and promote public investment partnerships in key sectors.
Vietnam is ready to share its models for developing raw material zones, agricultural and seafood supply chains, export-processing centers, and commodity trading hubs tailored to Morocco’s conditions, he affirmed.
He also called on business associations in both countries to intensify trade promotion, exhibitions, and fairs to help enterprises find concrete cooperation opportunities, which he stressed are essential for fostering bilateral ties.
He commended Morocco’s modern infrastructure, including Africa’s first high-speed rail system and a well-developed financial centre, which create favourable conditions for investment and tourism. He also suggested that Morocco, with its strategic location and growing importance in Africa, and Vietnam, with its strengths in agriculture, textiles, footwear, and processing industries, could jointly implement cooperative projects, especially in agriculture and technology.
The Chairman assured that the National Assembly of Vietnam is willing to work with the Parliament of Morocco to share legislative experience, particularly in areas related to trade, investment, and sustainable development, in order to create a more favourable legal environment for businesses.

Addressing delegates, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) Chakib Alj noted that the event, held during the official visit of the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman, demonstrated the strong interest of both sides in ramping up bilateral cooperation and supporting their business communities for the shared benefit.
He praised Vietnam as a dynamic, open economy with impressive growth, particularly in agricultural processing and electronics, positioning it as a highly sought-after partner for international cooperation. He highlighted Vietnam not only as a rapidly growing market but also as a gateway to the wider ASEAN region.
Alj also emphasised Morocco’s position as a strategic gateway to both Africa and Europe - similar to Vietnam’s role in Southeast Asia, creating ample opportunities for cooperation in aviation, green energy, smart agriculture, smart industries, and other emerging sectors. He underlined the determination and strength of both countries’ business communities, and expressed hope that this dialogue would build trust and spark regular mechanisms for business engagement.
He hoped that Vietnam–Morocco cooperation would become a model of partnership between an African and an Asian nation, based on mutual trust and high-quality, effective outcomes.
During the dialogue, leaders of ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses from both countries shared insights on their respective investment environments, discussed solutions for boosting cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, and aviation, and explored inclusive development financing. Topics included the role of aviation in promoting trade, investment, and tourism between Vietnam and Africa, and experience of Vietnam’s development banks in financial cooperation with Africa.
The two sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on enhancing investment cooperation between Vietnam and Morocco, marking a new step forward in their economic partnership.
