National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man begins Morocco visit
VOV.VN - A high-level Vietnamese delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man arrived at Salé Rabat airport in the capital city of Rabat on July 24, marking the start of an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco from July 24 to 27 at the invitation of Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport were House Speaker Rachid Talbi Alami, House Secretary General Najib El Khadi, and Ambassador of Vietnam to Morocco Le Kim Quy, along other officials of both countries.
Upon their arrival at the airport, Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Speaker Rachid Talbi Alami had a retreat meeting.
This is the first official visit to Morocco by a top Vietnamese leader in six years and comes at a time as both countries are to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.
During the visit, Chairman Tran Thanh Man is expected to hold talks with his Moroccan counterpart and witness the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Moroccan House of Representatives. The two leaders will also co-chair a policy and legal dialogue aimed at promoting Vietnam–Morocco cooperation in economy, trade, and investment.
In addition, Chairman Man will have high-level meetings with other Moroccan leaders, receive the President of the Morocco–Vietnam Friendship Association, meet with the Chair of the Morocco–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, and meet with embassy staff and members of the Vietnamese community in Morocco.
Morocco, located in North Africa and bordering both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, is the country closest to Europe. It is a member of multiple free trade agreements with the European Union, the United States, and the African Union, and is considered one of Africa's most developed economies.

The visit is expected to add fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation, especially in trade, investment, agriculture, and tourism, with the goal of raising two-way trade turnover to US$500 million in the coming years. Morocco is currently Vietnam’s second largest trading partner in North Africa, with bilateral trade volume steadily increasing.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, Vietnam and Morocco have maintained strong relations both bilaterally and multilaterally. Many high-level visits and exchanges between the two national assemblies and their agencies have taken place. Notably, House Speaker Habib El Malki visited Vietnam in 2017, and Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan paid an official visit to Morocco in 2019.
Multilaterally, the two parliaments have maintained regular contact and consultation at forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF). With strong support from the National Assembly of Vietnam, the Parliament of Morocco was officially admitted as an observer of the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in September 2020.
