NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man attends AIPA-45 Executive Committee meeting
VOV.VN - Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man and other top legislators of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA)’s member countries attended a meeting of the AIPA Executive Committee in Vientiane on October 18.
Speaking at the meeting, Man expressed confidence that under the leadership of Laos National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane, and the thorough preparations by the Lao National Assembly, the AIPA-45 General Assembly will be a great success, contributing to enhancing the country's role and position in the region.
He said the theme of the 45th General Assembly “The Role of Parliament in Enhancing Connectivity and Comprehensive Growth in ASEAN” aligns well with this year’s overarching ASEAN theme: “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience.”
This theme conveys a consistent message from AIPA and reflects Laos's desire to strengthen ties among regional economies and with external partners. It aims to bridge development gaps, promote inclusive and sustainable growth, and reinforce the collective commitment to implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
Additionally, it addresses the need to respond effectively to emerging challenges while seizing opportunities to build a resilient, connected, prosperous ASEAN Community centered on its people.
Vietnam is poised to propose four initiatives/resolutions at various AIPA meetings, namely the AIPA Young Parliamentarians’ Meeting, the AIPA Committee on Social Matters, the AIPA Conference of Women Parliamentarians, and the AIPA Committee on Economic Matters.
The Vietnamese delegation will also consider co-sponsoring six resolutions, including five proposed by Laos and one jointly by Indonesia, Laos, and Malaysia.
Delegates at the meeting discussed and approved the agenda for the AIPA-45 General Assembly, which includes the AIPA Executive Committee meeting; the AIPA Young Parliamentarians’ Meeting, the AIPA Committee on Social Matters, the AIPA Conference of Women Parliamentarians, and the AIPA Committee on Economic Matters, along with the signing of the joint communiqué and the closing session.
