Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary praises strong partnership with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi praised the growing partnership between Japan and Vietnam, during his meeting with Do Van Chien, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, in Tokyo on July 29.

Hayashi emphasised Japan’s high regard for Vietnam and reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed his admiration for Vietnamese people, culture, and cuisine, noting the personal warmth he feels toward Vietnam.

Hayashi particularly commended Vietnam’s ongoing reform process under the leadership of Party General Secretary To Lam, saying that these reforms are expected to foster a more favourable environment for expanded economic and business cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting is Chien’s last activity during his friendship visit to Japan from July 27 - 29. While staying in Tokyo, he engaged in a series of high-level activities, including meetings with leaders of Japan's ruling coalition and key politicians, a working visit to Tokyo University of Science, and a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

At the meetings, Japanese leaders expressed strong respect for Vietnam and a shared desire to further deepen bilateral relations across all sectors. Tetsuo Saito, leader of the Komeito Party, a member of Japan’s ruling coalition, highlighted the long-standing historical and cultural ties beween the two countries.

“Japan and Vietnam share a deep-rooted relationship stretching back over 400 years. Today, Vietnamese expatriates constitute the second largest foreign community in Japan, contributing significantly to our socio-economic development. We look forward to working closely with Vietnam to strengthen this special partnership,” he said.

A heartfelt highlight of the visit was a gathering with members of the Vietnamese community in Japan. At the event, Chien, who is also Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committeee, reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policies and enduring affection for its overseas citizens.

“The Party, State, and people of Vietnam consider the overseas Vietnamese community an inseparable part of the nation. Over the years, we have introduced numerous policies to inspire patriotism, preserve national pride, strengthen connections, and improve the quality of life for our citizens abroad,” he stressed.

Following Japan, Chien will continue with a similar friendship visit to the Republic of Korea.
