HCM City meeting marks 70 years of Vietnam – Mongolia diplomacy

VOV.VN - The Vietnam - Mongolia Friendship Association held a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on November 15 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mongolia.

Speaking at the event, Tran Thanh Nam, president of the Vietnam - Mongolia Friendship Association, noted that Mongolia was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Over the past 70 years, the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia have continued to grow, achieving numerous remarkable milestones.

Notably, he said, during the September 2024 visit by Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership and continued to promote expanded cooperation in areas such as politics, defense, security, law enforcement, economy, trade, and investment. The two countries also sought to deepen practical cooperation in agriculture, science, transportation, culture, sports, tourism, education, labour, the environment, and social welfare, alongside strengthening regional and international cooperation.

According to Nam, the people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Mongolia have developed over many decades, forming a solid foundation for deepening mutual understanding and respect, contributing to the stable and sustainable development of bilateral relations. He expressed confidence that the Vietnam - Mongolia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City will work hard to further enhance friendly relations between the people of Vietnam, particularly those in Ho Chi Minh City, and the people of Mongolia.

Taking the floor, Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam Jigjee Sereejav remarked that the cooperative relations between Mongolia and Vietnam have flourished since the establishment of diplomatic relations 70 years ago. He affirmed that Mongolia regards Vietnam as an important partner in ASEAN and a “third neighbor”. He also expressed confidence that bilateral relations and cooperation will continue to expand and thrive in the coming years.
