Greetings to Cuba on the 72nd anniversary of Moncada Barracks attack
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Party and State leaders have extended their greetings to their Cuban counterparts on the occasion of Cuba’s 72nd anniversary of the Moncada Barracks attack (July 26, 1953 – 2025).
The greetings were sent by Party General Secretary To Lam and State President Luong Cuong to Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba; by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, and by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of the People’s Power.
On this commemorative occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also sent greetings to Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
These greetings underscore the strong bond of solidarity and mutual support between Vietnam and Cuba as both countries continue to honour their historical struggles and achievements in the pursuit of national independence and social justice.
On July 26, 1953, a group of revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro attacked the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba. Though they lost, the raid paved the way for the insurrection against the regime of Dictator Fulgencio Batista and the establishment of the first agrarian-industrial country in the Western Hemisphere.
