Joint media efforts deepen Vietnam–Cuba friendship ahead of 65th anniversary
VOV.VN - A joint documentary on Vietnam’s rice cultivation project in Cuba will air simultaneously in both countries in celebration of 65 years of diplomatic ties and the Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Year 2025.

As part of efforts to strengthen media cooperation between the two countries, a delegation from Vietnam Television (VTV), led by Tu Luong, Director of the VTV Center in Ho Chi Minh City, is on a working visit to Cuba.
During a meeting with Jorge Legañoa Alonso, Vice President of the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication (IICS), the two sides agreed to enhance the exchange of professional expertise and personnel training in television production.
A key focus of this visit is the production of a short documentary highlighting the success of Vietnam’s rice cultivation project in Cuba. The film is expected to air on VTV1 to mark the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945–2025).
For his part, IICS Vice President Jorge Legañoa Alonso expressed deep gratitude for Vietnam’s continued support for Cuba during the current difficult period. He recalled the immortal words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood!” and emphasized that today, Vietnam continues to demonstrate a similar spirit of solidarity with Cuba.
Both sides consented to simultaneously broadcast the documentary in both countries as a meaningful tribute to the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960–2025) and the Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Year 2025.
On this occasion, the VTV delegation presented television equipment to its Cuban partners and offered gifts to local authorities and residents of Los Palacios district, Pinar del Rio province, where the CT16 rice variety project is being implemented.
