Foreign leaders send condolences over Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s passing
VOV.VN - Leaders of countries have sent telegrams of condolence to the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and people of Vietnam, over the recent passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The telegrams were sent by First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee General Raúl Castro Ruz, Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party Hun Sen, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sodary; Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly (Senate) Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly (Lower House) Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Lao Front for National Construction and people; and the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and people, also cabled telegrams of condolence.
In their telegram, the Lao leaders noted that when Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, the Party, State and people of Vietnam have lost a steadfast revolutionary leader, and the State and people of Laos have lost an extremely close and dear comrade.
Throughout his life of revolutionary activities, he devoted all his energy and wisdom to the cause of national liberation, national unification and the renewal of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially to the Party building and rectification campaign and the anti-corruption campaign, helping Vietnam to continuously develop and enhance the country’s position internationally. He has become an outstanding leader of the era, they said.
The Lao leaders highly appreciated Trong’s great contributions to strengthening and cultivating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. They expressed their belief that the Party, State and People of Vietnam will turn this pain into the united strength of the entire people to continue to move forward steadily.
In their telegram, the Chinese leaders affirmed that with Trong’s passing, the Chinese Communist Party and people have now lost a good comrade, a good brother, and a good friend.
They said Trong is a steadfast Marxist and a great leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people. He devoted his entire life to the cause of the Party and State of Vietnam, making outstanding contributions to the Renewal process and the cause of building socialism in Vietnam as well as the socialist movement in the world.
They recalled Trong’s contributions to strengthening and cultivating the traditional friendship between the two Parties and countries of China and Vietnam, noting that that were Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary Xi Jinping who elevated China-Vietnam relations to a community of shared future with strategic significance, helping to promote the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
The Chinese leaders expressed their belief that the Communist Party of Vietnam and people will turn pain into strength, inherit Trong’s will, and unite to record new and greater achievements in the cause of Renewal and building socialism.
China always considers Vietnam a priority partner in its neighbourhood diplomacy, and is ready to work with Vietnam to constantly consolidate political trust, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and promote the cause of building a community of shared future with strategic, thereby bringing happiness to the people of the two countries, contributing to peace and development of the region and the world, they said.
First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee General Raúl Castro Ruz, and Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez wrote in their telegrams that the passing of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is an irreparable loss to Cuba, and Cuba will always remember him as a great brother, who tirelessly promoted the special friendly relationship between the two Parties, the two National Assemblies, the two Governments and the two peoples.
They acknowledged Trong’s outstanding contributions to the cause of building socialism in Vietnam, including his vision of the role of the Communist Party, the creative application of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh’s thought, as well as his vision of international relations in the current context, and affirmed that Trong’s life and career are a priceless legacy for future generations.
The Cuban leader expressed their belief that Trong’s personal contributions, intellectual legacy and political career will be an invaluable source of encouragement for the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people.
In his telegram to President To Lam, President V. Putin said Russia will remember the Vietnamese General Secretary as a true friend who made great personal contributions to the establishment and development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam.
He recalled his previous impressive meetings with Trong, saying the Vietnamese Party General Secretary is a wonderful person, and has great reputation in the international arena.
