FM Bui Thanh Son attends Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

VOV.VN - Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, authorized by State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London on September 19.

On the sidelines of the funeral, FM Son had meetings with King Charles III, Prime Minister Liz Truss and new Cabinet members of the British Government.

He sent condolences from senior Vietnamese leaders to the King, members of the Royal Family, Government and people of the United Kingdom over the passing of the Queen.

The Minister highly appreciated the Queen’s great role in shaping the prosperous development and status of the United Kingdom. He emphasized Vietnam’s respect for the Queen’s precious support in promoting the Vietnam - UK cooperation, and hoped the Royal Family and the British Government would continue to lead the UK to develop and support the promotion of the Vietnam – UK strategic partnership, especially when both countries will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2023.

Minister Son also had exchanges and contacts with a number of leaders of countries attending the Queen’s funeral.
