Cambodia promotes long-standing relationship with Vietnam, affirms Hun Sen
VOV.VN - Incumbent Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who is also incumbent chairman of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, reaffirmed Cambodia’s policy of strengthening the long-standing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, during his phone talks with Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on August 5.
He briefed Trong on the results of the recent general elections and expected that the coming Government would continue to maintain the fine relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam that has existed over the past decades.
General Hun Manet, whoi is Hun Sen’s son, has been nominated by the Cambodian People’s Party as the Prime Minister candidate in the new government.
Leaders of the Cambodian People’s Party as well as the National Assembly and the Government of Cambodia will continue to preserve and cultivate the traditional relationship between the two parties, the two states and peoples of Cambodia and Vietnam to new heights, he assured the Vietnamese leader.
Hun Sen thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for providing great support and assistance for the Cambodian People’s Party, the State and Cambodian people in their national liberation in the past and national construction and development at present.
He also congratulated Vietnam on its tremendous, comprehensive achievements in national development and international integration, and expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnamese people will continue to reap new and greater successes in implementing the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress.
Trong for his part congratulated Cambodia on its successful general election and expressed his belief that the new Cambodian National Assembly and Government will record greater victories in the cause of national construction, defense and development.
He affirmed that Vietnam strongly supports Cambodia’s construction and development under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party and the new Government.
The Vietnamese Party leader highly appreciated contributions by Hun Sen and other leaders of the Cambodian People’s Party to the Vietnam – Cambodia relations over the years, and expected that the future leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party would continue to uphold this fine tradition.
The two leaders were delighted about the positive development of the cooperative ties between Vietnam and Cambodia in recent times, bringing practical benefits for the two countries, for the sake of peace, stability and development in the region and the world at large.
They vowed to jointly preserve and cultivate the good relationship between the two countries, and agreed to continue to closely coordinate and promote bilateral cooperation in all fields.
