Vietnam congratulates Cambodia on general election success
VOV.VN - Vietnam on July 25 congratulated Cambodia on successfully organizing its recent parliamentary elections for the seventh term.
Vietnam, as a neighbour of Cambodia and a member of ASEAN, always wishes Cambodia peace, stability and prosperous development, said Pham Thu Hang, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to reporters’ questions on the results of the Cambodian general election.
She expressed hope that the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to flourish in the interest of the two peoples, and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.
The same day, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong sent a letter of congratulations to President of the Cambodian People’s Party and Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the success of the election.
PM Pham Minh Chinh talked over the phone with his Cambodian counterpart to offer congratulations. Chairman of the Vietnamese NA Vuong Dinh Hue extended congratulations to President of the Cambodian NA Samdech Heng Samrin.
The Vietnamese leaders expressed their belief that Cambodia will soon set up a new National Assembly and a new Government to continue leading the Cambodian people on the path of developing a peaceful, stable, and prosperous country that has a growing role and stature in the region and the world at large.
They said they believe that the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries will be intensified further and grow more strongly for the sake of the two peoples, the ASEAN Community, as well as regional and global peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
Cambodia held its general election on July 23 and the ruling Cambodian People’s Party said it has won a majority of seats in the National Assembly.
