Cambodia prioritises strengthening cooperative relations with Vietnam
VOV.VN - Cambodia gives top priority to strengthening cooperative relations with Vietnam, affirmed Cambodia Senate President Hun Sen during his phone call with Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on April 5.
The Cambodia Senate supports enhancing cooperation between the two countries, said Hun Sen.
During the phone call, the two leaders agreed to increase bilateral cooperation in all areas.
The two countries have maintained cooperation mechanisms between their ministries of national defense, home affairs, and foreign affairs, while coordinating closely in ramping up cooperation along the joint border.
The two sides vowed to help Laos to fulfil its role as ASEAN and AIPA chair in 2024 and consolidate solidarity among ASEAN countries.
They held that the legislative bodies increase visit exchanges to share experience in legislation and other issues, including monitoring the implementation of the signed agreements between the two sides.
Hue suggested that the Cambodian Senate encourage the government to accelerate the border demarcation and border marker planting between the two countries in order to build the common border of peace, cooperation and development.
He also asked the Cambodian side to facilitate the handling of legal documents for people of Vietnamese origin, helping them to stabilize their lives in their host country.
The two sides agreed to effectively implement the 2022 cooperation agreement, maintain regular visit exchanges, and increase people-to-people exchanges to promote the tradition of solidarity, friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the two countries and the two legislative bodies.
Hue on this occasion respectfully invited Hun Sen to visit Vietnam in his new position as Senate President this year.
Hun Sen respectfully thanked Hue for the invitation and said he would make an official visit to Vietnam in an appropriate time.
