Beijing meeting marks 75 years of Vietnam – China diplomatic relations
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in China and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries jointly organized a grand ceremony in Beijing on January 24 evening to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (January 18, 1950 - 2025).
In his remarks, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh reviewed major milestones in bilateral relations over the past 75 years, recalling the times when the peoples of both countries stood side by side to support and help each other in their revolutionary struggles for national liberation and national construction and development. He emphasized the deep significance of the friendship between the two countries, which is described as both comrades and brothers.
The Ambassador noted that since the normalization of relations in 1991, bilateral relations have continuously advanced to new heights, achieving many significant milestones, through reciprocal high-level visit exchanges.
In 2024, two-way trade exceeded US$200 billion, making Vietnam China’s fourth largest trade partner globally. China is also Vietnam’s third largest foreign investor, with a total registered capital of over US$31.8 billion.
Reality shows that continuously strengthening and developing the Vietnam-China relationship is entirely in line with the aspirations and fundamental, long-term interests of the peoples of both countries. This relationship is crucial for the sustainable development of both nations, as well as for peace, stability, and development in the region and the world, emphasized Ambassador Binh.
Looking ahead, he said, the two sides need to continue fully and effectively implementing the agreements and common perceptions between the two Parties and countries, to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, to bring tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
Taking the floor, Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the National People’s Congress of China, noted that over the past 75 years, the Vietnam-China relationship has overcome challenges and become increasingly resilient, yielding many valuable experiences. Under the strategic guidance of the highest leaders of both Parties and countries, the relationship has entered a new era of building a Community of Shared Future with strategic significance.
He emphasized that the high-level strategic trust between the two sides is the fundamental guarantee for the development of bilateral relations. The common vision and the people-centered approach, along with mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, are the most prominent features of the relationship and serve as the key driving force for its further development.
Li also affirmed that China is ready to work with Vietnam to fully implement the common perceptions between their top leaders, organize meaningful activities to celebrate 75 years of bilateral diplomacy, and promote comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two sides.
At the ceremony, art troupes from both countries staged a variety of performances that showcased their rich cultural and artistic traditions, highlighting the beautiful sentiments and friendship between Vietnam and China.
