The summit serves as a platform to discuss global governance challenges and the future of international cooperation, with a focus on fostering innovative solutions to empower future governments.
From February 11 to 13, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son will participate in the summit and engage in a series of bilateral meetings in the UAE. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at a discussion session on how emerging economies can leverage digital innovation and renewable energy to foster economic growth and competitiveness. He will also speak at a session on efforts to achieve the Millennium Goals, highlighting Vietnam’s experience and achievements in advancing sustainable development. Additionally, he will meet with leaders of various countries, international organizations, and major corporations specializing in technology and innovation on the sidelines of the event.
During his visit, Son is also expected to meet with senior UAE officials and executives of leading investment funds and corporations to discuss ways to effectively implement cooperation agreements, maximize opportunities from bilateral partnerships, and contribute to Vietnam’s development.
The World Government Summit is an annual event organized by the UAE since 2013 under the chairmanship of the country’s Vice President and Prime Minister. It brings together government leaders, top business executives, and scholars to exchange insights and policies on the future of governance, technological innovation, and national administration.
According to the organizers, this year’s summit features the participation of over 30 heads of state and government, more than 400 ministers, and thousands of industry leaders, scholars, and policymakers from over 140 countries, along with representatives from more than 80 international, regional, and intergovernmental organizations.
This marks the third consecutive year that the summit has adopted the theme "Shaping Future Governments." The 2025 edition will focus on six key topics: effective governance and accountability, financing the future and the global economy, climate resilience and sustainable urban development, human-centered future and capacity-building, global healthcare transformation, and emerging frontiers and the future.
The summit aims to outline strategies to enhance government transparency and efficiency, spur sustainable economic growth, strengthen urban resilience to climate change, and ensure robust healthcare systems amid global challenges.
Discussions will also explore the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biotechnology, as well as how governments can utilize these advancements to drive progress.
