CPV’s leadership – a beacon of inspiration for Uruguay

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay Juan Castillo stressed that Vietnam's struggle for independence and freedom under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has served as a shining example for his country.

In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency, Castillo laid stress on the pivotal leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV. He also highlighted how the national solidarity for independence as well as revolutionary heroism of millions of Vietnamese people shaped up the identity of the revolutionists that has encouraged the solidarity between the Uruguayan communists and the Vietnamese people.

President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, and hero Nguyen Van Troi have been integral to the history of liberation struggles of the humanity, Asian nations, revolutionists, and communists worldwide. The 95th founding anniversary of the CPV is an occasion for revolutionists and communists to honour and acknowledge the glorious historical journey and achievements of the heroic party, he affirmed.

Castillo went on to praise Vietnam's bamboo diplomacy, with the expansion of relations with countries worldwide, helping promote peace, international integration, and trade. This strategy has contributed to Vietnam's admirable successes in the construction of socialism and national development, reflected in the social welfare policies that have benefitted Vietnamese citizens.

The Uruguayan Party leader noted his close attention to recent directives from Party General Secretary To Lam regarding the historical significance of the upcoming period and current challenges to Vietnam's socialist construction. He referenced the Vietnamese Party chief’s emphasis on the CPV's victories across two phases, with the first from 1930 to 1975, spanning the Party's founding through the struggle for national independence and unification, and the second from 1975 onwards, marking the country's renewal period, particularly the significance of the upcoming 14th National Party Congress.

Commenting on the CPV's goals to transform Vietnam into a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030 and a developed, high-income nation by 2045, Castillo said they are fundamental objectives of the Vietnamese people, and that they will contribute to peace in Asia and the whole world as well as to the cause of all nations.

He affirmed that this year's celebrations - the 95th founding anniversary of the CPV and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification are momentous events for all those fighting for human liberation, freedom, and socialism.
