Cambodian senior leader receives outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador

VOV.VN - President of the Senate of Cambodia and President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Samdech Techo Hun Sen hosted a reception on December 25 in Phnom Penh for Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang, who came to bid farewell after marking the end of his term of office.

Speaking at the reception, President Hun Sen congratulated Ambassador Tang on his excellent performance and hailed the contributions made by the Vietnamese diplomat, as well as the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, to consolidating and nurturing the relationship and co-operation in a variety of fields between the two sides.

The host leader showed his elation at the development of the strong neighbourly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive co-operation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries over recent times. He expressed great appreciation for the two countries' regular maintenance of high-level visits; contacts; and meeting mechanisms between ministries, sectors, and localities of the two countries to promote the strengths of each side.

President Hun Sen expressed his wish that the two countries continue to strengthen linkages in politics, economics, trade, and tourism for the benefit of the people of each country, as well as for the causes of peace, stability, and development in the region and the wider world.

For his part, Ambassador Tang showed his sincere thanks to President Hun Sen and senior leaders of Cambodian ministries and sectors for always supporting, helping, and creating the most favourable conditions for him to fulfill his duties during his working term in Cambodia.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the peaceful and stable development and the great achievements in all aspects that Cambodia has recorded in recent times under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the correct leadership of the Senate, the National Assembly, the resolute and effective management of the Royal Government of Cambodia with the Cambodian People's Party as the core. This has brought about a period of complete peace and political stability, strengthened national defence and security, ensured continuous high economic growth, constantly improved foreign relations, and witnessed the prestige and position of Cambodia be constantly elevated in the international arena.

Ambassador Tang applauded the strong development of the joint relationship over the past 57 years and expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party led by President Hun Sen and the Communist Party of Vietnam led by General Secretary To Lam, the relationship between the two countries will certainly continue to develop more strongly in a multitude of fields.

On this occasion, President Hun Sen also awarded the Sahametrei Order of Moha Sena rank to Ambassador Tang in recognition of his great contributions to the development of bilateral ties.
