Cambodian Senate President commends Vietnam’s governance reforms
VOV.VN - Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People's Party, has praised Vietnam’s efforts in restructuring and streamlining its Party and State apparatus.
During a courtesy call on February 12 at the Cambodian Senate headquarters, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu met with Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen upon assuming his duties in Cambodia. On this occasion, Hun Sen hailed Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to restructure and streamline its Party and State agencies.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Vietnam’s senior leaders, including Party General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, to Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
He also expressed deep admiration for Cambodia and extended congratulations on the country’s achievements under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party, recognizing Hun Sen’s pivotal role. The ambassador also applauded the successful leadership transition and the accomplishments of the Royal Government under Prime Minister Hun Manet in implementing the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1.
He thanked Hun Sen for his long-standing support in reinforcing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. He also expressed appreciation for the favorable conditions Hun Sen has provided for the Vietnamese-origin community in Cambodia, enabling them to live and work stably and integrate into local society.
Additionally, he acknowledged Hun Sen’s efforts in facilitating Vietnamese businesses to invest and operate smoothly in Cambodia as a contribution to the host nation’s development and the strong bilateral relationship.
Expressing his honor at being appointed as Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, Nguyen Minh Vu reaffirmed his commitment to further deepening the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and cooperation. He emphasized that he would make every effort to enhance relations between the two nations based on the principles of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability."
President Hun Sen noted that Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu’s swift arrival in Cambodia following his predecessor’s departure demonstrated the Vietnamese Party and State’s strong commitment to Vietnam-Cambodia relations. He showed high regard for the ambassador’s proposed initiatives to further promote cooperation in a variety of fields and voiced confidence that Nguyen Minh Vu would have a successful tenure.
On this occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed his profound sentiments toward the Vietnamese Party, State, and people, recalling his close ties with generations of Vietnamese leaders. He accentuated Cambodia’s deep appreciation for Vietnam’s invaluable support in overthrowing the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime, preventing its return, and helping Cambodia rebuild and develop into what it is today.
Hun Sen also applauded Vietnam’s remarkable progress in recent years and recognized the vast economic cooperation potential between the two countries in investment, trade, and tourism.
He highlighted that Vietnam and Cambodia’s economies complement each other and stressed the need to enhance connectivity, with economic collaboration as a central pillar and political ties as a foundation. He underscored the importance of strengthening transport links and mutual support for development while expanding trade, tourism, and healthcare cooperation.
On this occasion, the Cambodian Senate President extended his best wishes to Vietnam’s senior leaders, lauded Vietnam’s efforts in restructuring its Party and State apparatus, and expressed confidence that these reforms would be successfully carried out.
