Brazilian media highlights Vietnam’s multilateral diplomacy at BRICS 2025

VOV.VN - Brazil’s INVERTA news site on July 5 published a Portuguese-language article highlighting Vietnam’s multilateral diplomacy and its growing role at BRICS 2025, as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh began his working visit to Brazil for the expanded BRICS Summit and bilateral activities, at the invitation of President Lula da Silva.

The article underscored that the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for July 6–7, offers Vietnam, now the 10th BRICS partner country, a platform to assert its active role in multilateral diplomacy and contribute to building a peaceful, fair, and sustainable globe.

With a dynamic economy, a population nearing 100 million, and deep integration into global supply chains, Vietnam brings to Brazil a story of resilience and adaptability, from a once-isolated nation to a trusted partner that actively helps shape multilateral mechanisms.

Vietnam’s participation in BRICS 2025, the article stated, not only strengthens ties with emerging economies but also reaffirms its commitment to dealing with global challenges, from sustainable development and climate change response.

For Brazil, this is an opportunity to witness a dynamic Vietnam ready to cooperate for mutual benefit and a prosperous future.

INVERTA praised Vietnam’s consistent pursuit of multilateral diplomacy over the nearly 80 years since President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed independence on September 2, 1945.

“Multilateral diplomacy has accompanied every period of Vietnam’s development, from the struggle for independence to nation-building and national defence,” it wrote. During 1945–1975, diplomatic victories such as the Geneva Accords (1954) and the Paris Agreement (1973) not only affirmed Vietnam’s fundamental national rights but also garnered broad international support, thereby contributing to the country's historic reunification. These milestones laid the foundation for Vietnam’s position as an independent and respected nation on the global stage.

The article stressed that since the 1986 Doi Moi (renewal) process, multilateral diplomacy has become a central pillar of Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development; diversification and multilateralization of external relations; and proactive, active international integration.

Referring to Vietnam’s official accession as the 10th partner of BRICS in June, INVERTA described this as a major milestone in Hanoi’s multilateral diplomacy journey. With a population of nearly 100 million, a rapidly growing economy, and deep integration into global value chains, Vietnam is seen as “a key player in Asia” and a partner that shares BRICS’ commitment to building a fairer and more representative international order.

The article noted that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s attendance at the BRICS Summit 2025 is not merely a routine diplomatic activity, but a vivid demonstration of Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, and diversification.

INVERTA Radio also aired commentary on the PM’s visit, saying that Vietnam’s participation in BRICS 2025 is not only a chance to affirm its stature, but also an opportunity to deepen ties with Brazil, a strategic partner with shared values and interests. Both countries are dynamic emerging economies with a common aspiration to shape a multipolar, peaceful, and prosperous world.”
