August designated a month for women travelers

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has designated August 2016 a month for women travelers, in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday.

Various activities will be organized throughout August, as part of the "Women’s Journey Thailand” program.

TAT is launching a special campaign to attract local and international female travelers to enjoy some of Thailand’s many attractions. Special offers, discounts, and privileges will be arranged in August, aimed at women, whether travelling alone or with groups of friends.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said that the special campaign would encourage the growth of the global and domestic female traveler segment, in conjunction with TAT’s strategy to promote Thailand to be a "Quality Leisure Destination.”

Increasingly, he said, women are coming to Thailand in groups or as solo travelers and expect to find activities and attractions geared to their needs. This campaign will broaden their recognition of how Thailand can cater to female travelers and make sure that they have a great experience.

Meanwhile, TAT Deputy Governor Juthaporn Rerngronasa said that female travelers were a strong market for local and inbound tourism to Thailand. The global income of women worldwide has risen significantly and the compound growth of female arrivals to Thailand has also risen, averaging 11.4% from the period 2007-2014.

Research has shown that women travelers enjoy visiting beaches, benefitting from Thailand’s amazing spa opportunities, and trying Thai food, but they are perhaps more concerned with safety and privacy than male travelers. With this in mind, TAT is joining forces with airlines, hotels, resorts, spas, and tour operators to arrange various activities and offer special discounts and privileges throughout the month of August.

TAT has also come up with five different promotional concepts: Beautiful Look, Beautiful Shape, Beautiful Mind, Beautiful Retreat, and Beautiful Experience. They are designed to meet the varied needs of women travelers and to boost Thai tourism products and services that are geared toward female travelers.

Other special arrangements are also being provided to female travelers in this month, such as Lady Immigration Lanes, Lady Parking, and Lady Airfare.

In Thailand, many activities are usually held throughout the month of August to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday, 12 August, which is also observed as National Mother’s Day. The exhibition, "Discover Her Majesty's Seven Textile Trails," is being held at Terminal 2, Don Mueang International Airport, in Bangkok, in line with the Government’s policy to link Thai handicrafts with tourism.
