Party leader To Lam expresses confidence in Vietnam’s bright future
VOV.VN - The entire Party, army and people will resolutely overcome difficulties and challenges to drive the country towards rapid and sustainable development in the new era based on the achievements recorded by the Communist Party of Vietnam over the past 95 years, said Party leader To Lam.
To Lam was speaking at a get-together in Hanoi on January 20 to celebrate the 95th founding anniversary of the Party (February 3, 1930 - 2025) and the coming Lunar New Year 2025.
“Looking back at the establishment and growth of the Party for the past 95 years, we can take pride in and have complete faith in the bright future of the Party and the nation,” said the Party leader. “The Party membership has continuously grown in both quantity and quality, fully capable of shouldering the responsibility of advancing the nation in the new era.”
He highlighted the achievements Vietnam has recorded in various areas over the years, especially those remarkable gains from the Doi Moi (Renovation) process that have enabled Vietnam to accumulate momentum and strength for future breakthroughs.
He attributed those accomplishments to the close leadership of the Party, the decisive governance and implementation of the Government, continued efforts of all administrations, organizations, the business community, as well as ranking officials, Party members and people from all social strata.
Notably, the country also owe much to the contributions of former leaders, veteran revolutionaries, intellectuals, and overseas Vietnamese, he noted.
However, the Party leader reminded the country not to rest on its laurels, but to critically assess current limitations, weaknesses, and challenges, including barriers.
He shared that to successfully achieve the development goals set for 2030 and 2045 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Party and the 100th anniversary of the socialist state, the entire country must make maximum efforts starting in 2025. They include creating breakthroughs in investment attraction, vigorously promoting production, business, and services, striving for at least 8% or higher growth, and laying a solid foundation to achieve double-digit growth from 2026 onwards.
“The Party must avoid overstepping or neglecting its leadership role. It should lead through the political system, serving as its nucleus, by setting ideology, policies, and examples through self-criticism and critique by cadres and Party members; and by institutionalizing the Party's directives into laws. ….. Furthermore, it is crucial to implement the Party’s resolutions and conclusions on building and rectifying the Party and political system while studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and lifestyle,” said To Lam.
He requested vigorous and relentless fight against corruption and wastefulness, saying the supervisory role of Party committees and inspection commissions must be heightened to promptly identify loopholes and resolutely prevent, combat, and strictly handle corrupt or degenerate cadres and Party members, thereby safeguarding the Party’s integrity.
Regarding socio-economic development, the General Secretary underscored the need for decisive, revolutionary, and comprehensive reforms in economic management. He ordered effectively restructuring the economy linked to a shift in the growth model, rooted in science-technology, digital transformation, and high-quality human resources development.
He also requested further investment in cultural development and social policy implementation, taking into account the benefits of vulnerable groups and ethnic people. He called for more efforts to be made to ensure independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political security; maintain social order and safety; and advance foreign relations and international integration.
On behalf of the Party and State, the Party General Secretary Lâm awarded the Gold Star Order to former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
He also awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order to some other former leaders of the Party and State.
