Hai Phong city plans to evacuate more than 19,700 residents from vulnerable areas ahead of Typhoon Wipha’s expected landfall, with the evacuation to be completed at 8:00 p.m. at the latest.

The north-central province of Thanh Hoa also prohibits fishing vessels from going out to the sea from 8 a.m. on July 21.

As of 7:00 a.m. on July 21, Thanh Hoa has safely brought ashore 6,566 vessels carrying 21,868 workers. Meanwhile, nine vessels with more than 620 crew members remain at sea in the Quang Tri–Hue coastal area. Authorities confirm that all have received updated information about Wipha and are maintaining regular contact with both local authorities and their families.

By 9 a.m. on July 21, at Cai Xa Cong anchorage area in former Ha Long city, there are about 200 vessels to come to take shelter. Quang Ninh has a total of more than 4,200 vessels, with 275 returning to safe shelters.

Many fishermen tie up their vessels and buy necessities. Learning from last year’s Typhoon Yagi, vessels have been anchored since July 20 morning.

At Tuan Chau Port, nearly 130 cruise ships have been anchored. More than 100 passenger ships and 375 cruise ships have been informed about the typhoon and prepare to anchor at the port before July 21 evening.
