VOV.VN - Thua Thien-Hue province hosted a hot air balloon festival on June 25, the largest of its kind in Vietnam, in an effort to welcome Hue Festival 2022 and attract tourists to the central locality.

Opening with the theme of “Balloon Festival – Hue Former Citadel From the Sky”, the festival is jointly organised by the Thua Thien-Hue Tourism Department and Hexa Media.

Twenty balloons take part in the festival held at Ham Nghi Yard inside the Hue former Imperial Citadel.

Half of the smaller balloons remain stationary at one site for decorative purposes, while 10 larger ones fly majestically along the Huong River, moving to the east towards the various lagoons and the Thuan An Sea.

The price of a ticket to see the stationary balloons is VND170,000, equal to US$7.30, per person, while a flight costs VND5 million per person, including insurance.

According to organisers, the balloons are controlled by professionals with international certificates.

Technical staff are on hand in order to carefully check the balloons before the start of their flights.

The festival draws a huge number of locals and tourists who come to witness the hot air balloons taking to the skies with their own eyes.

Tourists are able to directly experience flying hot air balloons, with a maximum of three guests for each flight.

The festival is accompanied by an EDM Night of Lights music show on June 26 in An Dinh Palace that gathers famed rappers and popular DJs.
