Young intellectuals’ talkshow kick-starts 2025 Autumn Economic Forum
VOV.VN - More than 500 young intellectuals participated in the talkshow titled "Intelligent Generation NOW" in Ho Chi Minh City on November 25, marking the opening of the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum.
The event was supported by the World Economic Forum (WEF), UNESCO, RMIT Vietnam, and CMC Group, bringing together outstanding young people from various sectors.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son noted that Vietnam is undertaking historic decisions, particularly in the fields of innovation, science and technology, and digital transformation, with the aim of building a digital nation and a green economy.
He affirmed that the youth are a valuable asset of the country, the future leaders, and a key factor in building a strong Vietnam. The country’s golden population of 100 million people, especially the young generation, is an invaluable resource. However, to fully harness this potential, young people need to proactively develop their thinking, acquire knowledge, and skills to become outstanding leaders in the future.
Success depends not only on state policies but more importantly on the youth's spirit of self-learning, innovation, responsibility, and the willingness to take action, he stressed.
Taking the floor, Nguyen Van Duoc, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City administration, emphasized that the opportunities for young people today are more abundant than ever.
The youth are not just beneficiaries but also the centre of societal transformation, a crucial resource for the city and the country’s future growth, he said.
He assured that Ho Chi Minh City is committed to investing heavily in digital infrastructure, high-quality human resources, and creating an innovative environment to support the development of the youth.
The city will also expand cooperation programmes with universities, research institutions, and businesses to train high-level talents, particularly experts in AI, data science, and technology, to meet the demands of a digital economy.
At the talkshow, WEF Managing Director Stephan Mergenthaler shared global trends in the digital era, especially the opportunities and challenges that young people in Vietnam face in the green and digital transition. He encouraged young people to actively participate in this process to build a sustainable future for the country and the world.
The talkshow featured discussions by young Vietnamese representatives, including RMIT students, entrepreneurs, young business leaders, intellectuals, civil servants, and representatives from the Global Shapers Ho Chi Minh City hub. They addressed key issues such as sustainable development, digital transformation, and the role of the youth in creating human values for society.
In addition to the main events, the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum featured several exhibition booths showcasing advanced technologies, reflecting a clear commitment to green development linked with digital transformation. Right at the entrance to the Thiskyhall Sala Convention Centre, an automated robot drew significant attention as it introduced the forum’s information to visitors.
Inside the exhibition area, booths were arranged with a high-tech focus, featuring numerous AI and digital technology applications. Many companies also demonstrated automatic health-check devices and robotic arms—innovative tech solutions that have garnered significant interest.
The 2025 Autun Economic Forum Ho Chi Minh City is taking place at the Thiskyhall Sala Convention Centre from November 25 – 27. A total of 91 delegations from ministries, sectors, and localities around the world have confirmed their attendance, representing a 3-4 fold increase compared to previous years.
