Vietnamese handicrafts go on sale at New York Now 2022
VOV.VN - Eight Vietnamese businesses have participated in the "New York Now 2022" expo, a popular international gift fair specialising in introducing numerous handicraft products from various countries from around the world.
The event running from August 14 to August 17 attracted the participation of roughly 950 businesses from 35 countries around the globe.
Vietnamese firms, supported by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) Office in New York and the Vietnam Handicraft Exporters Association (Vietcraft), introduced a wide range of products at the fair, including toys, gifts, and household items made from sedge, rattan, bamboo, wool, and ceramic materials.
Le Ba Ngoc, general secretary of Vietcraft, revealed that Vietnamese handicrafts have so far made a presence in 163 countries and territories worldwide, with turnover reaching approximately US$2.2 billion per year.
Handicrafts are also listed among the group of 10 export items raking in the largest turnover and the US accounts for up to 35% of the total export value.
During the event, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, permanent representative of Vietnam to the UN, congratulated Vietnamese handicraft enterprises on their participation in the expo as they strive to keep up with trends set in the vibrant market in New York.
He went on to express his hope that the Vietcraft will continue to co-ordinate with Vietnamese representative agencies in the US in order to serve as a bridge for local handicraft businesses to increase their market share in the market.
