Vietnamese fruits capture attention at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong

Vietnamese fruits are drawing significant international interest at Asia Fruit Logistica 2025, taking place from September 3–5 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, China.

The exhibition, one of Asia’s largest fruit and vegetable trade events, has attracted 760 exhibitors from 42 countries and territories and is expected to welcome around 13,500 visitors. Vietnam’s specialties, including durian, dragon fruit, banana, mango, coconut, and pomelo, stood out as highlights, attracting strong attention from both local partners and those from foreign countries.

Within the framework of the 2025 National Trade Promotion Programme, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vinafruit) brought 22 enterprises with 24 booths to the fair. Among the participants were well-known exporters such as the Chanh Thu Fruit Import-Export Group, Vina T&T, Pico Agriviet, Ant Farm, Agrochain Vietnam, Phulimex, and Saolafarm. On the first day alone, several Vietnamese firms secured high-value orders.

The Vietnamese fruits drew strong interest from buyers in China, India, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the Middle East, with durian attracting the most attention, followed by dragon fruit, banana, mangoes, and coconuts, Vinafruit Secretary General Dang Phuc Nguyen told the Vietnam News Agency.

He emphasised that repeated participation by many firms reflects the event’s effectiveness and appeal. Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports have grown rapidly post-pandemic, from nearly US$3.5 billion annually before the COVID-19 pandemic to US$5.6 billion in 2023 and US$7.1 billion in 2024. However, he cautioned that 2025 presents challenges, as China is imposing stricter quality requirements and the US market is affected by retaliatory tariffs, making it difficult to surpass last year’s results.

Nguyen Tuong Vy, general director of the Chanh Thu Group, viewed the exhibition as a key platform for brand promotion, business networking, and planning for future growth.

She remarked that this year’s edition was more dynamic than in previous years, with many new partners visiting Vietnamese booths.

According to Vy, exporters should enhance brand promotion and increase their presence at Asia Fruit Logistica, while also investing in deep processing to add value and broaden global reach for Vietnam’s agricultural products.

Liu Guiwu, procurement director at China's Hunan Greenery Fruit Co. Ltd., said his company has been importing more Vietnamese fruits in recent years thanks to improving quality. With longstanding cooperation with several Vietnamese partners, the company intends to strengthen ties further. He expressed confidence in the strong growth potential of Vietnamese fruits and their ability to expand into new markets.

Participation in Asia Fruit Logistica offers Vietnamese enterprises opportunities to showcase diverse, high-quality products aligned with global consumer trends; connect with buyers and suppliers worldwide; explore advanced solutions across the supply chain; and capture emerging industry insights. The event also provides a platform for expanding market access and signing new export contracts.
