Vietnamese e-commerce export revenue likely to reach VND296 trillion

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s e-commerce export revenue is anticipated to reach VND296.3 trillion by 2027 providing that local firms receive sufficient support to accelerate the pace of applying e-commerce to export products and services, according to the latest study conducted by Access Partnership.

This information was released at the Vietnam cross-border e-commerce conference 2023 held in Hanoi on June 7 by the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency in collaboration with Amazon Global Selling.

Addressing the event, Lai Viet Anh, deputy director of the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, emphasised that cross-border e-commerce is currently a booming trend in many countries around the world.

With a growth rate of retail e-commerce of over 20% annually, there exists great potential for e-commerce development in Vietnam, Anh added.

"We have been diversifying programs to accelerate digital transformation, fine-tuning online export policies, and providing training programs to help businesses expand their operations internationally and achieve success on a global scale,” she noted.

A survey of 300 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the country shows that 86% of respondents think they will not be able to carry out export activities without e-commerce.

Furthermore, local MSMEs are also aiming to expand markets to other countries, such as the United States, Japan, and many European countries over the next five years.

Gijae Seong, CEO of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam, said the export value of Vietnamese businesses that sell their goods on Amazon increased by 45% last year, adding that many local firms stand ready to export goods online, although they have yet to gain enough knowledge to expand their export scale.

Amazon is striving to co-operate alongside Government agencies and service providers in a bid to organise this event which will support online export businesses, he noted.

The Amazon representative also stressed that Amazon Global Selling has committed to enhancing the development of businesses in the Vietnamese market by equipping them with necessary skills as they rise to new height amid the current global business environment.
