Vietnam imports frozen pork from 43 markets worldwide
VOV.VN - Vietnam imported 109,800 tonnes of frozen pork worth US$257.29 million from foreign markets last year, marking a decrease of 8.9% in volume and 12.2% in value compared to 2023, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The average import price of frozen pork to Vietnam stood at US$2,338 per tonne. The country imported frozen pork from about 43 markets globally, with Brazil accounting for nearly 40% of total pork imports.
Meanwhile, Vietnam imported over 876,000 tonnes of meat and meat products last year, valued at US$1.78 billion, reflecting an increase of 15.2% in volume and 18.1% in value compared to 2023.
The imports mainly consisted of various types of meat, including meat and edible by-products after slaughter, frozen buffalo meat, frozen pork, and frozen beef.
India remains the largest supplier of meat products to Vietnam, with exports reaching US$644.91 million, up 23% from 2023.
According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the country exported 24,500 tonnes of meat and meat products worth US$117.02 million last year, up 8% in volume and 6.1% in value compared to 2023.
Vietnamese meat products were shipped to 37 markets worldwide last year, with strong export growth recorded in Belgium, France, and Singapore.
The livestock industry ensured sufficient supplies for both domestic consumption and export activities last year, thanks to the application of advanced science and technology in farming.
Notably, the organic livestock farming model has shown high economic efficiency and is gradually being expanded.
