Vietnam desires to promote strategic FDI projects with RoK
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung chaired a meeting in Hanoi on July 31 with leaders of various ministries and localities to review and accelerate foreign direct investment (FDI) projects by enterprises of the Republic of Korea in strategic sectors in Vietnam, such as semiconductors and energy.

The meeting was attended by leaders of ministries in charge of finance, public security, foreign affairs, science and technology, industry and trade.
At the review meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Dung emphasised the significance of Korean-invested projects and instructed relevant ministries, agencies, and localities to reach consensus on the necessity of these projects. He requested a thorough legal review and analysis to ensure a clear legal basis for facilitating smooth project implementation.
The proposed projects are expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs and involve large-scale investments, thereby contributing to the realization of the economic cooperation frameworks between Vietnam and the RoK, he stressed.
With a sense of urgency and determination, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the designated ministries and agencies to strengthen engagement with the businesses involved and reach preliminary agreements on commitments. These include technology transfer, the establishment of R&D centres in Vietnam, workforce training, and support mechanisms.
For issues that fall under decentralised authority, local governments were urged to swiftly resolve investment bottlenecks and create favourable conditions for effective project execution, ensuring sustainable benefits.
It is essential to secure clear commitments based on investor proposals, Vietnamese legal regulations, and a harmonisation of interests among all parties involved, he said.
