Vietnam attends Sial Interfood Exhibition 2022
VOV.VN - A variety of Vietnamese products, including rice, milk, and coffee, are on display at Sial Interfood 2022 that is getting underway in Jakarta, Indonesia, on November 9.
This year’s four-day event has seen the participation of approximately 750 businesses from 27 countries globally showcasing the latest premium food products, beverages, utensils and cooking accessories.
Industry insiders said Indonesia is a promising market which has a great demand for food and beverage products such as confectionery, dried fruits, tea and coffee-based beverages, fruit juices, vegetables, and canned fruits, as well as milk and dairy products. These are products that Vietnam can completely supply and contribute to diversifying the tastes of Indonesian consumers.
In addition, Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world, with a market size of food and beverage products reaching up to nearly US$170 billion per year.
Phan Huu Tai, director of Cong Thanh Ut Hanh Company in Long An province, noted that Vietnam boasts several products favoured by Indonesian consumers, including rice and longans. Besides rice, he said the company has also introduced rice husk firewood which can replace fuel and become very popular globally.
Pham The Cuong, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Indonesia, said his trade office would continue to strengthen trade promotion by focusing on products that have comparative advantages in an effort to further penetrate the Indonesian market.
The Vietnamese Trade Office and the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have jointly requested that Indonesia open its market for some advantageous Vietnamese fruits, such as litchi and longan, he revealed.
Moreover, Vietnam has strengths in the software industry, while Indonesia is accelerating digital transformation and has the largest e-commerce market throughout all of Southeast Asia.
These factor are anticipated to open up bright prospects ahead for future co-operation, Cuong stressed.
