Vietnam Airlines to launch HCM City – Perth air route later this year

Vietnam Airlines will use modern wide-body aircraft Boeing 787 to run three round trips per week between Ho Chi Minh City and Perth. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City will take off at 3:50 p.m. every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday and land in Perth at 11:05 p.m. the same day (local time).

In the opposite direction, flights from Perth will take off at 00:50 am on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays and land in Ho Chi Minh City at 06:10 am the following day. Passengers are able to buy tickets for this air route from September 1.

At the announcement ceremony, Roger Cook, Premier of Western Australia, affirmed that the new flight route would open up many opportunities for the two destinations to capitalize on inbound tourism services, so as to help boost the economy and create more jobs for the region.

According to Cook, Western Australia hosts a growing Vietnamese-Australian community that has largely contributed to the socio-economic, and cultural development of the state.

The new air route, he said, would meet a variety of needs such as business, holiday or study abroad, thereby creating a stronger connection for the community, opening up a completely new tourism market and further enhancing tourism services.

Nguyen Huu Tung, head of Vietnam Airlines Representatives to Australia and New Zealand, stressed the opening of the new air route is part of activities to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Australia this year.

He expressed his belief that with this new direct flight, Western Australian tourists will have the opportunity to explore and learn about Vietnam as well as to connect with other international tourist destinations through Vietnam Airlines’ global flight network.
