Three major infrastructure projects in full operation in Quang Ninh

VOV.VN -Three major projects- Van Don International Airport, Ha Long International Cruise Port, and the Ha Long-Van Don Expressway- were launched on December 30 in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

The three projects have received a total investment capital of over VND20 trillion (US$860 million).
Van Don will become the first airport in Vietnam to operate under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model at a cost of over VND7 trillion. The first flight to land at the airport was welcomed by a water canon salute.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sets foot on the runway at Van Don International Airport along with other Party leaders.

Upon addressing the ceremony, PM Phuc highlighted the event as a breakthrough in the development of Quang Ninh’s transportation system which will benefit the locality and the surrounding areas.
Nguyen Duc Long, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the project will contribute significantly to the development of tourism, trade, as well as other travel activities.

They paid a visit to the airport’s terminals.
The 4E standard airport is capable of catering for some of the world’s most modern aircrafts. It is designed to receive an annual capacity of 2.5 million passengers and 10,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
On the same day, the first flight from Vietnam Airlines, carrying passengers from Ho Chi Minh City, landed at Van Don International Airport.
People wait for their relatives, who were returning to their hometown on the airport’s first flight.
The Ha Long-Van Don Expressway, which was built at a cost of nearly VND14 trillion, has also been put into service.
The 60km expressway has two emergency stopping lanes and four lanes with a maximum speed of 100km per hour.
The expressway will help shorten the travel time from Ha Long to Van Don from 90 minutes to 50 minutes.
In addition, the grand opening ceremony of the Ha Long International Cruise Port was also held in Bai Chay.
With three major transport projects operating in the province, it marks a major turning point for infrastructure development in Quang Ninh, providing fresh momentum for the province's socio-economic development in the future.
